John Naisbitt

The author: His first book Megatrends sold more than 9 Million copies. He is one of only fourteen nonfiction authors who had has more than one book as #1 on The New York Times bestseller list since its beginning in 1946. His international bestsellers have sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. His last book Mind Set! (Collins 2006) has been published in 42 countries. Based on the research of the NAISBITT CHINA INSTITUTE John Naisbitt is currently working on an analysis of China’s key economic, cultural and political transformations and their impact on the global business landscape.

The speaker: John Naisbitt’s goal is to help his audience to step back from short term disruptions, alternating  favored business theories and practicies and create a picture of the fundamental restructering that is taking place in the world today. A sense of the near future allows us to create and communicate  a vision, based on the demands and needs to come.
John Naisbitt’s has spoken to almost all major corporations of the world. He travels around the globe several times a year. He and his wife divide their time living in Vienna, Austria and in Tainjin, China. For two years the research team of The Naisbitt China Institute, located at Tianjin University, adds an important part to the decription Naisbitt gives of the rearrangements in the global economy. Looming larger and larger in the new picture is of course China.

Biography

After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and after his studies in Utah, Harvard and Cornell, John Naisbitt worked as an executive for IBM and Kodak. In 1963 he went to Washington where he became the Assistant Secretary of Education to President Kennedy, and Special Assistant to President Johnson. Since the global success of Megatrends and the 12 books that followed, he has traveled around the globe several times a year and has spoken to almost all the major corporations of the world. He is the recipient of 17 honorary doctorates in the humanities, technology and science.

John Naisbitt current focus is on China, which he has been studying and visiting for more than 40 years, first in 1967.  A former professor at Nanjing University, he is currently professor at both Nankai University, Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University and  Tianjin University of Finance and Economics. He and his wife divide their time living in Vienna, Austria and in Tianjin, China, where in 2007 they established the Naisbitt China Institute at Tianjin University.  Two years later, in 2009 John Naisbitt co-authored China’s Megatrends - The 8 Pillars of a New Society with Doris Naisbitt. The book is has been published in more than 15 countries and is a bestseller in many of them. In 2010 John Naisbitt co-authored the China Model. In December 2011 Innovation in China The Chengdu Triangle co-authored with Doris Naisbitt will be published.
